Happy Thanksgiving!

We had so much fun preparing for Thanksgiving in our classroom!  The students got to grocery shop in our drama center and check out with the cashier using pretend money.  Then they took their groceries "home" and cooked up a yummy Thanksgiving meal in the kitchen area.  In our discovery center, we played with Indian corn and got to pick it off the cob.  We decorated teepees in the art center and got to play in a teepee too!  We made a class graph about our favorite Thanksgiving food and learned about the first Thanksgiving with the pilgrims and Indians.

Evan had special visitors on his birthday!

The birthday boy is 4!

Happy Thanksgiving!!

Fun with Fabric

At the end of our clothes unit, we had a special treat! Mrs. Jenny Hall came to show us how she creates patterns to make clothing.  It was so much fun for the students to see how quickly fabric can be cut and sewn into clothes!   Thanks Mrs. Jenny for such a fun visit!

She showed us how she slides elastic into PJ pants to make the waistband stretchy.

She even followed her pattern and cut a dress out for Catherine!

We learned that wool can be used for coats, satin for dresses, fleece for baby blankets, and lycra for bathing suits.

We loved our visit!  Catherine, please tell mommy to come back again real soon! :)
